It'd be an understatement to say that it was just an all out girly day. Plenty of pink, floral prints, cameos, and curls. The unusually warm weather has just brought it out of me and now all I want are sundresses and green leaves on the trees again. It's only a matter of time, right?

Classes are starting to pile on work faster than I can get it done, but I suppose that's not saying much since I'm blogging instead of doing said work. Spring break is next week. It's here before spring even arrives! That's some bullshit if I've ever seen it. How can someone properly recover from classes with cold, dreary weather when we're all supposed to be at the beach? But I'll happily take what I can get, and if that's staying at my parents' house all week, catching up on some leisurely reading and sleeping into the afternoon, I'm a-okay with that.

shoe love

So earlier this week, I got this beautiful box in the mail. It was way more exciting than I thought it would be.

This is what was in the box. I found them discounted at Urban Outfitters. I haven't taken them off since I got them...

shirt - H&M
boots - Jeffrey Campbell
necklace - secondhand

This is like discount Jeffrey Campbell porn if I've ever seen it. You'll have to excuse my excitement, but I mean, just look at them!

draped in lace

This last picture is why I usually take my photos in or near the woods--there's much less of a chance to run into friends, which clearly leads to some photo intrusion and causes a bit of a scene. Gotta love them anyway, right?

I was feeling particularly dainty this day, so naturally lace on lace was just the way to go. The entire look is comprised of either secondhand or gifted items, which I think makes up most of my wardrobe in general, so it's no surprise. I have a slight obsession with jewelry, so instead of deciding on the perfect necklace, I just piled them all on. Hooray for indecision.

Happy Ash Wednesday, everybody. Big day.

a valentine for Ginsberg

Allen Ginsberg always knows just what to say. An excerpt (I'd put the whole thing if I wasn't so self-aware of my obsession with him) from his poem "Song" for this day of love:

The weight of the world
is love.
Under the burden
of solitude,
under the burden of dissatisfaction

the weight,
the weight we carry
is love.

Isn't this just the perfect dress/heel combo for a date? Not that I have a date for the equally celebrated and loathed holiday of Valentine's Day...but if I did, I sure would have the right dress for it. Prior to it coming into my possession, this dress looked like it belonged to a 1980s Sunday school teacher or something, but nothing a good pair of scissors and a sewing machine can't fix! And these heels, oh these heels...I'm slightly obsessed. Me and heels don't happen often, but these are too comfy to pass up

My exciting Valentine's plans consist of a date all night with a research paper. Clearly not the most captivating date...which is why I'm posting here instead of scouring scholarly articles. At least I got all dressed up for it.

tight bun & Shakespeare..?

bottom layer dress - American Apparel
top - secondhand

Let me start by apologizing for the shitty quality of photos. I had a crazy day with classes, then straight to work, so by the time I was able to take a breath, the sun was on its way out. I wanted to capture my green look, so my only option was to grab my wonderful roommate and drag her outside with a point-and-shoot, and you now see the results.

I acquired this top at a small pawn shop in Montana a couple months ago, and it definitely wasn't love at first sight. But, after getting to know it a little better, I've come to love this unique top as my own. I think it has a kind of Midsummer Night's Dream look with a slight Stevie Nicks vibe. Who wouldn't love that? I promise to be back to quality pictures next time. God forbid I show dark, grainy snapshots of my life.
